Case Studies – Practical ISTR Solutions for Challenging CVOC Sites

When remediation projects face complex conditions, proven strategies make the difference. In this webinar, you will see how ISTR was applied to real-world sites with unique challenges and demanding cleanup goals. Our experts will share lessons learned and practical approaches that delivered results.

Key Highlights:

  • How CSMs guided technology selection and system design
  • Strategies for adapting designs when unforeseen conditions emerged
  • Examples of installing wellfields beneath active buildings and infrastructure using angled and horizontal drilling
  • Low temperature ISTR applications that simplified operations, reduced costs, and improved sustainability

You will also learn how some of these projects eliminated vapor extraction systems, lowered energy use, and still met stringent remedial goals.

Join us on April 22, 2026, for case studies that show how ISTR achieves success under real-world constraints.

Applying Heat for Complete and Permanent PFAS Remediation

Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) continue to challenge conventional remediation strategies, particularly when projects require permanent treatment, predictable performance, and confidence that contaminants are truly destroyed rather than transformed into other fluorinated compounds. As expectations for long-term stewardship and defensible cleanup strategies continue to evolve, project teams are increasingly being asked to demonstrate how proposed remedies address both current PFAS compounds and those that may become regulated in the future.

In this webinar, TerraTherm will evaluate how high temperature thermal remediation can be applied to PFAS impacted soil and sediment as a desorption and destructive treatment approach. Drawing on laboratory research and field experience, our technical experts will also present results from a recent field demonstration conducted as part of the Department of War Environmental Security Technology Certification Program (ESTCP) evaluation of PFAS destructive technologies (ER23-8372), highlighting treatment performance, contaminant removal mechanisms, and the role of system design in supporting reliable PFAS destruction.

What You’ll Learn:

  • How high temperature thermal remediation systems are designed to treat PFAS and manage fluorinated byproducts using thermal desorption and thermal oxidation
  • Key findings from laboratory studies that evaluated treatment temperatures, removal mechanisms, and PFAS breakdown during heating
  • Results from a recent ESTCP field demonstration evaluating thermal treatment of PFAS impacted sediment using thermal desorption and thermal oxidation
  • When high temperature thermal remediation may be an appropriate option during PFAS remedy evaluation and project planning

Join us on May 20, 2026, for a focused technical discussion that examines how high temperature thermal remediation is being used to completely and safely address one of today’s most persistent environmental contaminants while supporting long-term site management and redevelopment goals.

Thermal Treatment: A Reliable Option For Your Bedrock Source Zone

Treating fractured bedrock is complex, and effective remedial options are limited. Due to the fractured nature of rock, contamination can migrate deep, and pathways out of the bedrock system are limited.

One of the most effective and reliable methods of treating fractured bedrock is to use thermal technologies.

In this webinar, presenters Steffen Griepke, VP of Technology at TerraTherm and Niels Ploug, Product Manager at Krüger will discuss the treatment of bedrock source zones, including:

  • The challenges of removing volatile organic compounds (VOC) from fractured rock
  • The pros and cons of the most common thermal treatment technologies in bedrock settings
  • Design considerations and field implementation challenges

The prerecorded presentation will be peppered with examples and results from the many thermal sites successfully treated by the combined TerraTherm and Krüger teams. Steffen and Niels will also share highlights from a recently completed project—the world’s deepest thermal remediation project of crystalline rock, treated to a total depth of 170 ft.

ISTR in Fractured Bedrock

Treating fractured bedrock is complex, and effective remedial options are limited. Due to the fractured nature of rock, contamination can migrate deep, and pathways out of the bedrock system are limited.

Using thermal technologies is one of the most effective and reliable methods of treating fractured bedrock.

In this flash webinar, presenters Steffen Griepke and John LaChance, (VPs of Technology and Development, respectively) discuss the treatment of bedrock source zones, including:

  • The challenges of removing CVOCs and DNAPL from fractured rock
  • The pros and cons of the most common thermal treatment technologies in bedrock settings
  • Design considerations and field implementation challenges

This recorded webinar will include examples and results from bedrock sites successfully remediated using thermal. Steffen and John will also share highlights from a completed project—the world’s deepest thermal remediation project in crystalline rock, treated to a total depth of 170 ft.

If you are involved in the evaluation or remediation of any bedrock sites, this is a webinar you want to watch.

Thermal Remedy of Fractured Crystalline Rock

Investigating and remediating fractured rock can be a lot more complex than treating a porous media like sand or clay. This webinar will present information and data from projects where thermal remediation was successfully used to clean up sedimentary, metamorphic, and igneous bedrock. The removal mechanisms as well as challenges for using thermal remediation technologies in fractured rock will also be reviewed, along with technology applicability and costs.
