Soil Treatability Studies
If your site is different than one we have treated, sometimes a
laboratory study can help determine whether and how thermal treatment would
work, and be used to refine the cost estimate for treatment.
TerraTherm has designed, conducted and evaluated numerous laboratory
treatability studies to confirm the feasibility of thermal treatment of
specific waste/soil matrices. Such studies may be required as a
proof-of-principle for a given set of site-specific samples, and are
particularly useful when confronting an unusual contaminant or mixture of
contaminants, or a matrix that has not previously been encountered (rock,
sediment, or solid waste). Examples of studies completed include ones for
thermal treatment of nitroaromatic compounds; pesticides; mono-, di- and
trichlorobenzenes; PAHs mixed with other contaminants; and CVOCs mixed with
other contaminants.
Such laboratory studies can typically be conducted within 3-5 weeks,
including chemical analyses, and cost generally $1500 to $3000/ sample
tested, depending upon scope. Ask us for details!
We have also designed, conducted and evaluated more complex pre-design
studies of in-situ thermal remediation to address issues related to
optimization of process engineering, safety, materials of construction, and
scaling. These range from bench-top and larger-scale laboratory tests to
drum-scale tests and pilot studies of all types, conducted for both
government and private corporations. Please discuss your treatability study
needs with us!
